Paris Roubaix.

Well the last race of the classic season has now been and gone..260kms and what a day.. it was epic. i averaged 318w today for 6hrs 44mins. that was over 7500kjs for the day.. can you believe that shit! i mean, on some days doing 320w for an hour hurts, but for nearly 7hrs is unreal..

im really happy with my ride.. i mean 10th in one of the hardest races you can do is a something to be proud of.. i hadnt talked about how i was feeling leading up to the race much, cause i didnt want to acknowledge the flu/bad head cold that i had.. i got it on the thursday the day after my wednesday ride where i was flying….and man i was bad.. i was so blocked up in the head all day today, green things coming out of the nose, coughing and spluttering (poor buggars behind me!). i really suffered.. i dont now how i did what i did so all in all i had a super day… if i was 100% healthy there is no doubt in my mind i could have been with thors group or somewhere closer.. cancellera though just made EVERYONE look stupid.. i dont even want to comment, other than to say, the strongest man definitely won. how nice would it be to cruise the last 4kms and take it all in.. wow that is something to dream of i guess.

you know im sure to all you guys all you see is the cobbles and lots of them.. to us though there is fight after fight.. no downhills for recovery… the risks are huge here.. you really risk alot to be in the front on the cobbles.. at times i laid it on the line. other times i noticed the favourites relax a little and so did i… at times you just get through a gap then you hear a massive screeeeeeech of brakes and boof, a massive crash.. i just thank my stars, i tell you that! my most nervous part of the race was of course the arenberg forest.. you got to see this section.. its undescribeable.. bumpy beyond belief. muddy, danger written all over it actually…and it goes on and on. not to mention the 60k/hr you hit prior to it…

anyway, its late here. time to shut down the engine and what a day tomorrow will be.. i finally get to be with my parnter and my baby boy.. im so excited, this is what got me to the line today, thinking about them… its real difficult not having my boy with me.. its hard to explain. but it will make tomorrow and the next 4 weeks super special.. we both arrive into barcelona at the same time. i cant wait to see their faces.. this year though i can enjoy it all, last year i was repairing my wounds from that dirty arenberg forest.. not this year though, you beauty!

thats all from me. my next race is tour de romandie in just over 2 weeks.. now for some relax and some weight loss.. then the tours begin. one after another.. bring it on i say, im over the bumpy stuff for 2010 i tell you.. well apart from a few days in july where we will again be tearing it up…

thanks for reading, hope you enjoy the blogs…

ciao ciao :-)
